| The allure of Tahitian Pearls |
Most recognized for its dark body colors, Tahitian Pearls have a presence of mystique and allure. This organic gemstone, also known as the “Tahitian Black Pearl” or simply “Black Pearl”, owes its bodycolor to its bearing oyster species, Pinctada Margaritifera, the “black lipped oyster". The islands of French Polynesia are the most significant culturing hub for Tahitian Pearls.
Tahitian Pearls come in various dark bodycolors of gray, green and blue. Some display beautiful, complementing overtones. These "fancy" pearls were named in resemblance to its color, such as Peacock, Aubergine and Pistachio. Tahitian Pearls also come in light to medium bodycolors such as silver, and occasionally white.
